Trying to forget pain is normal human behaviour. The problem lies in the fact that no matter how hard we try, very little is truly forgotten. Sometimes the pain is stored in our bodies and we exhibit physical symptoms sometimes it becomes psychological and we might become depressed for what appears to be no apparent reason or find ourselves exploding at a stranger and acting completely out of character.
All in an effort to forget.
But as I said to a patient the other day, first you have to remember if you want to truly forget; it is only by working through our pain that we are able to let it go and move on.
So remember to remember………
